Important: Download Google Authenticator from the App Store or Google Play Store (free download) before proceeding.

How to set up two-factor authentication (2FA) on the Website

Step 1: Go to Security

  1. Log in to your Pepperstone Crypto account.
  2. Click the Profile icon in the top-right corner.
  3. Select Security.

Step 2: Enable the Authenticator App

  • Under the Authenticator app section, click Enable.

Step 3: Verify Your Identity

  • You’ll be prompted to enter the SMS OTP sent to your registered mobile number.


Step 4: Set Up Google Authenticator

You’ll see a QR code and secret key on your Pepperstone Crypto account.

  1. Open the Google Authenticator app.
  2. Tap the + icon.
  3. Select Scan a QR code.
  4. Scan the QR code displayed on your Pepperstone Crypto account.

If you’re unable to scan the QR code:

  1. Tap the + icon in Google Authenticator.
  2. Select Enter a setup key.
  3. Enter the Account name and Secret key shown on your Pepperstone Crypto account.
  4. Tap Add.



Step 5: Get Your 6-Digit Code

  • Once the setup is complete, you’ll see a new Pepperstone Crypto account in Google Authenticator with a 6-digit verification code.

The code refreshes automatically at regular intervals.

Step 6: Enter Your Authenticator Code

  • Return to the Pepperstone Crypto website and enter the 6-digit code displayed in Google Authenticator into the Authenticator code field.

Step 7: Complete the Setup

  • Click Next.

Step 8: Confirm Two-Factor Authentication Is Enabled

  • Once two-factor authentication has been successfully enabled, a notification will appear in the top-right corner confirming:

    “Authenticator app enabled”

 

How to set up two-factor authentication (2FA) on the App

Step 1: Go to Security

  1. Log in to your Pepperstone Crypto account.

  2. Click the Profile icon in the top-left corner.

  1. Select Security.

Step 2: Enable the Authenticator App

  • In the Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) section, click the arrow next to ‘Disabled’.

  • Toggle on ‘Enable 2FA to secure your assets’.

  • You’ll be prompted to download either the Google Authenticator or Microsoft Authenticator app. If you’ve already installed one, skip this step and click Next.

Step 3: Verify Your Identity

  • You’ll be prompted to enter the SMS OTP sent to your registered mobile number.

Step 4: Setting up your Authenticator

You’ll see a QR code and secret key on your Pepperstone Crypto account.

  1. Open the Google Authenticator app.

  2. Tap the + icon.

  3. Select Enter a setup key.

  4. Copy the secret/setup key displayed in the Crypto app.

  1. Paste the key into the Your key field, enter an Account name (e.g. Pepperstone Crypto), then click Add at the bottom.

  1. Once added, you’ll see a confirmation message stating ‘Authenticator code saved’. A 6-digit authentication code will also appear in the app.

 

Step 6: Enter Your Authenticator Code

  • Return to the Pepperstone Crypto app and enter the 6-digit code displayed in Google Authenticator into the Authenticator code field.

Step 7: Complete the Setup

  • Click Next.

Step 8: Confirm Two-Factor Authentication Is Enabled

  • Once two-factor authentication has been successfully enabled, a notification will appear in the top-right corner confirming:

    “Authenticator app enabled”
