Overview
The Story Network is rebranding to DATA Network, with its foundation transitioning to the DATA Foundation. As part of this update, the native $IP token will migrate to $DATA on a 1:1 basis.
This FAQ explains what the change means for your account and holdings.
What is happening?
Story Network is updating its brand and focus to better align with AI training data infrastructure. As part of this transition:
- Story Network is now renamed DATA Network
- Story Foundation is now DATA Foundation
- $IP token will be replaced by $DATA token
- Token migration will happen at a 1:1 ratio
Do I need to take any action?
No action is required from users.
Your existing $IP balances will be automatically converted to $DATA once the migration is completed.
Will my funds or holdings be affected?
No. This is a rebranding and token migration only.
- Your total holdings remain the same in value terms at the point of conversion
- The supply structure remains unchanged
- Only the token name changes from $IP to $DATA
What is changing with the token?
- $IP will be replaced by $DATA
- All supported platforms will migrate balances 1:1
- $DATA will become the new ticker going forward
When will the migration happen?
The migration timeline is being coordinated with supported platforms and exchanges. Specific conversion timing will be announced separately.
Will trading be interrupted?
There may be temporary restrictions depending on the platform during migration (for example, convert or trading suspension windows). Users will be informed in advance if any action is required.
Why is this change happening?
The project is shifting focus toward AI training data infrastructure, including:
- Verified data sourcing
- Data provenance and auditability
- Licensing and contributor compensation rails
This reflects a broader pivot from IP licensing to AI-native data infrastructure.
Will I receive a new token contract?
Yes. $DATA will replace $IP as the active token. The swap is 1:1 and does not require manual conversion from users.
What should I do now?
Nothing is required at this stage.
